V0.1.05 + General Guide/Mini walkthrough
Miniwalkthrough/Guide
Here's a few things to keep in mind on the general mechanics.
THERE IS NO AUTOSAVE SO SAVE OFTEN
Abilities are divided into Magic abilities and Special Abilities. The general idea is magic characters use MP for basic abilities and TP for recharging via focus and other magic related buffs further down the development of the game. Melee based characters use MP to build TP for their more powerful attacks. An example in Sigvar's Case:
Turn 1: Windshear
Turn 2: Northern Stance I
Turn 3: Windshear
Turn 4: Rain of Fangs/Stormspike Descent etc.
This is also is determinate on whether enemies have a resistance to Wind Element or the element of the attack in the combo.
Which brings me to my next point of the guide, weaknesses!
Right now the main elements are Fire, Wind, Water, Earth, Lightning, Ice, Darkness and Light. As a general rule outside of special cases for bosses, The following enemies tend to take 150-200% Damage from said element.
Needlefangs and other winged enemies: Wind 200%
Slimes and Flan type enemies: Ice 200%
Plant and Ice like enemies: Fire 150-200%
Undead: Light 200% Or Fire 200%
Mechanical Enemies and Water Enemies: Lightning 150-200%
Lizard/Dinosaur type enemies:Water, Ice or Fire 150% depending on the name prefix (Fire Basilisk weak against Ice etc)
I am looking into a way to make it so that element weaknesses will give a different color number or maybe be an automatic critical hit.
Skill Learn System
The magic shop in Porthos, and Encordia along with the Priestess in the guild hall and the witch of the woods are where you go to learn new skills. You will need a combination of Job Points or JP which you acquire during battle and in some cases the appropriate tome or other item in order to learn the skill. This is reminiscent in how the first two Final Fantasy games operated outside of just needing gold. Each character has their own set of skills which by the next patch should be fleshed out more.
General Walkthrough
After Leaving Sigvar's house, you need to head north along the western Mountain range to the small town of Porthos. After meeting Astrid at the Tavern, go to the house right next door to see the cutscene for Fennwick. The story wont continue until you pick up Astrid first. This might change later in development to allow you to choose who to meet up with first. After picking up Astrid and Fennwick, Head to the magic shop in the top right corner of the town. In addition to the cutscene here when talking to the little girl with blue hair, The old Lady there is the first person you can access the skill learn menu from. It's highly recommended to come back here after you get some job points as these skills are all vital.
IMPORTANT NOTE: THE WELL IN PORTHOS DOESN'T LEAD TO ANYTHING RIGHT NOW. Later on there will be an NPC there who will collect guild emblems (think Tiny Medals in Dragon Quest). My roommate was stuck there for an hour straight thinking there was something there LOL
Once that scene is done, head towards the entrance to town and go to the door of the building with all the holes in its walls. After recruiting Alva, head on north to Fenrir Meadows.
Known Issues
Windshear animation continues despite enemies being dead.
The Guard at the Encordia checkpoint keeps repeating his same line [Will be patched when the rest of the quest is evented. Feel free to ignore him]
Fixes/changes:
- Fixed an issue where the Witch of the Woods would not appear to give the party the Earth and Water Tomes for Alva.
- Fixed a Hard lock issue after the tournament
- Added 2 new skills for Astrid (only 1 is usable currently)
- Tile passage cleanup
